to a duck hunter's wife it means to start of a new season. It means your husband leaving at 3:30 am on a Saturday morning to make sure he makes it to the right spot. It means seeing duck decoys and waders laid out around the house as he prepares for his hunt. It means seeing dead ducks in the yard when he returns. It means finding new and unique ways to cook duck meat.
But...This year duck season has a new meaning for us!
It means having a little boy who is very excited to see the ducks that his Daddy brings home. As he hugs and kisses them before his daddy cuts them up. It means seeing the excitement on his face as he has learned to blow a duck call and later in the season it will mean....seeing our little boy go on his first duck hunting trip with his daddy.
This year is going to be a very meaningful season for my two guys. So this year I will say....that I am excited about the start of Duck season and all the new adventure it will bring!

Evan was saying, "Are you holding them?"
What a happy Daddy! He has been waiting for this.
Eric said, "What happened to the Ducks?"
Evan said, "They bonked their head!"
Eric said, "Then what happened?"
Evan said, "They fell down!"
It is going to be a fun season....
I am sure there will be many more pictures to come!
Admittedly, I was not expecting your son to be cradling four dead ducks - LOL - but he sure is cute! I know he and Eric will enjoy so much time together as he grows. Praying each outing is more special than the one before!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Eric will have the best hunting buddy with him in a few years. Mandy, you had better hunt up some extra duck recipes because with two duck hunters, you are going to have to know how to cook up those dishes.
